Hey there! My name is Hershey Neri.

1. I am a twenty-something writer wannabe from Manila.

People call me an extrovert. That is true, well, at least for the most part. I'm a people-person. A sorority girl. Sometimes, a workaholic. Oftentimes, silly.  Always down for fun. Laughs at almost anything. Kinda gets too noisy at times. Yougettheidea. But deep inside, all I really enjoy doing is writing on my blog, sharing a cup of hot chocolate with Josh, and reading self-help books and shampoo labels. I like 'quiet days' as much as the exciting ones!

2. I've been blogging since 2007.

Before getting my own domain, there was a blogging site called Multiply, where I shared funny anecdotes and life experiences. People messaged me (on Yahoo Messenger, no less! LOL! Talk about #oldschool!) saying that they enjoyed reading my random, silly ramblings—and because of that, I kept writing! After all, I like making people happy. Four years later, in 2011, I launched my first website and named it "The Diary of a Teenage Queen". (Thank God I realized how cheesy that was, and eventually changed my URL. LOL. And yes, I say LOL out loud. LOL.)

In the same year, I met a girl who had a rare disease called biliary atresia. She needed to raise funds for her surgery, and so, I shared her story on my blog. Thousands of people started helping, and together, we were able to raise enough money for her operation! Today, she is healthy, happy, and doing really well. That experience ignited my passion to write even more: I wanted to write not for myself, but for others.

3. I am a writer by profession, and a storyteller at heart.

I currently work as a writer and content creator for Metro.Style (the digital platform of Metro Magazine) under ABS-CBN Publishing. My previous experiences includes working as a content creator for The Girl on TV from 2016 to 2017, and working as a features editor for When In Manila. You can read some of my published works here. Yep, I'm a digital girl through and through!

4. I dream of traveling the world to teach children how to read!

I love children's books as much as I love collecting stamps on my passport. One day, I hope to merge my love for the two by advocating for child literacy around the world. My dream is to set foot on every country! But for now, I make do with budget flights. Window seat—with a book on my lap.

5. I am a victor, not a victim.

One day, when I finally, completely heal, I dream of empowering victors of sexual and physical harassment. I currently give talks to university and college students, reminding everyone that we may be shaped by our past, but we are not defined by it!

YES, there is life after harassment! :)

“ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
